The term Agile was chosen for this revolutionary methodology because the word represents the ability to quickly/easily adapt and respond to change. It is a way of efficiently working in an uncertain and ever-changing environment that is typical of the technological world.
Unlike Waterfall, Agile implements iterative development where the software is built in phases. Agile teams typically work in short cycles called “sprints” in Scrum, which is one of the most widely used forms of Agile that typically last for around two to four weeks each.
Agile is a methodology that promotes continuous improvement through iterations and feedback loops throughout the software development lifecycle. It is ultimately a philosophy, a mindset, or a way of thinking, rather than just a framework, process or methodology, that is guided by the 4 values and 12 principles that form the Manifesto.
