Prioritizing individuals and interactions over processes and tools make our processes more responsive to any kind of issues or changes we may face in the development lifecycle. Ensuring transparency, and open communications among individuals would help the team resolve issues that may occur with our tools and processes more effectively.
We may have the best processes and most up-to-date technology in our possession, but our competitive advantage ultimately boils down to our team and how well they work together. After all, any miscommunication caused among teams can lead to bottlenecks in our processes, resulting in delays which would ultimately lead to client dissatisfaction.
The team’s ability to communicate transparently is any day more valuable to the organization than the processes and tools we have. That said, this should not be misconstrued as a license to be complacent with our tools and processes, rather as a guide on what the organizations should focus more on.
One way to do this is by identifying and assigning a Product Owner whose main purpose is to collaborate with the entire team and help make decisions that benefit the team and project as a whole. Another way to do this is by promoting a certain level of responsibility and ownership among individuals in the team to ensure that each team member is invested in identifying problems, contributing ideas, and ultimately improving the process.
